Weekly Check-in FAQ

Are you curious about how weekly check-ins work in Friday?

  • How do weekly check-ins work?

Every week, your team will answer a few quick questions about how their week went. In some ways, a weekly check-in feels like a combination of a 1-1 meeting with a status update. We've written more about weekly check-ins in a few blog posts.

  • When should I run a weekly check-in?

We'd recommend running a check-in on a Friday morning, but you can customize the cadence any way you'd like. Friday is a great day because it will give your team time to reflect on their week and plan for the next.

  • What can I customize in the weekly check-in?

    Pretty much everything :)

    • Questions - pick from a variety of types like sentiment, drop-downs, and more
    • Timing - pick how frequently you'd like to run the weekly check-in
    • Notifications - who should see the responses?
    • Where the prompt is sent (Slack, email, or both)

The Friday workflow builder makes it easy to run virtually any communication workflow you can think of, including weekly check-ins. The only requirement is that it must be a recurring work event. You can browse sample templates to learn more.

  • Who can see the responses?

It's up to you! Unlike other apps where everything is visible to HR (which feels like big brother), we let you pick who can see the results. It could be only visible to you, it could be the entire team, or the exec team. Friday makes it easy to customize visibility the way you want.

  • What questions should I ask?

We recommend the following questions to start:

    • How was your experience at work this week? (sentiment question)
    • What did you accomplish this week? (open-ended)
    • What priorities do you have for next week? (open-ended)
    • Anything else that's on your mind? (open-ended)

As you get up to speed, you can tailor questions according to your team objectives.

  • How much does Friday cost?

You can get started running check-ins for free. We are a business, so we can't give everything away, so premium features are $6/person per month and include:

    • Sending according to someone's timezone
    • See more than 3 weeks of data
    • Unlimited integrations
    • Easily run reports and track completion rate over time
    • Export data to CSV/PDF
    • and more!
